Natural Products For a Beautifully Scented Home

I love a beautifully scented home and today I am going to share some of my favourite natural home scents products with you.
Pacifica Reed Diffusers*, £15/120ml
Reed diffusers are perfect for smaller spaces and rooms, such as hallways and bathrooms, where they can work their hardest and hold their scent for longer. With a regular turning of the wooden reeds, you'll find this natural liquid fragrance lasting up to six months! The island vanilla scent is just gorgeous, with notes of vanilla absolute, honey-jasmine and tea. The Indian coconut nectar scent is another of my favourites; it takes you away to a sweet, tropical paradise! These vegan-friendly reed diffusers not only smell great, but they look pretty as well!
JOIK Candles*, £12.50/145g
Natural soya wax candles are another great option. These are clean-burning and create a lovely ambiance, as well as giving off a natural fragrance. I love candles by JOIK especially; their packaging is really pretty and they have a great selection of scents available. Did I mention they are great value for money?!
Scentsy Etched Copper Warmer, £36 and Scentsy Wax Bar Melts, £6/per pack of 8 cubes
I invested in the etched copper warmer last winter and am so glad that I did! The Scentsy wax melts may not be the most natural of products, but there are lots of other, more natural alternatives to choose from, which I will be checking out once I use up my current supply. There are so many gorgeous scents available and you can even create your own signature scents by mixing the melts. My favourites are sweet and/or foodie scents, of course! The warmer is electric and gently heats the wax, releasing the gorgeous scents all around your home; I find these work in small or large areas and I switch mine on for just 2-3 hours at a time, with the fragrance lasting a long time afterwards. I can reuse the same wax melt for weeks, so these aren't as costly as you may think. I'd definitely recommend getting yourself a wax melt warmer as they are practical and there are loads of complimentary styles to choose from to suit your home.
I recently purchased the try me surprise wax melts box from Bloom Candles to test in my Scentsy warmer and these are also great! Just £3.99 to try all 12 fragrances is such a bargain! I'm not sure how natural these melts are, but their scent throw isn't as strong as the Scentsy ones.

How do you naturally fragrance your home?
Love,
Emma xxx

The LoveLula June Beauty Box

The LoveLula Monthly Subscription Beauty Box*, £13.95
The June beauty box contained a total product value of £43, including two full-size products!

Included in the box was:
Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask, £9.50/40g
With brown rice flour, ground hibiscus and rose geranium oil, this little face mask sample sounds lovely and as a bonus, an organic muslin cloth was included!
Madara Daily Defense Balm, £15/60ml
I've been using this multi-purpose balm on any sore, dry or irritated skin and it definitely helps to reduce itchiness and inflammation, while moisturising the skin. It includes ingredients such as Northern cloudberry fruit extract, sea buckthorn fruit extract, shea butter and macadamia seed oil.
John Masters Organics Lavender, Rose Geranium & Ylang Ylang Soap, £3/42g
This organic soap has a lovely botanical scent and includes natural ingredients such as capuacu seed butter, coconut oil and olive fruit oil. I may try using this as a gentle facial cleanser.
This lip creme has an impressive staying power and strong pigment, but I find this shade too dark for me. It would be great to see a few more shade options.

JOIK Exfoliating Facial Scrub

JOIK Exfoliating Facial Scrub*, £16.50/75ml

This facial scrub from Estonian brand, JOIK, contains natural ingredients such as bamboo stem powder, sugar maple sap extract, coconut oil and shea butter. With a gritty cream paste formula, this scrub is housed in a screw-top jar and comes with a hygienic plastic spatula for dispensing. Only a small amount is needed per application, as this does go a long way. This product has a very delicate and inoffensive scent.

Please note that this product now comes packaged in tube form! I personally think this will be even better.
Applying to damp skin, massaged in circular motions, you will find this exfoliating scrub gentle enough for sensitive skin and for regular use. After rinsing off and patting skin dry, I find this scrub helps to gently remove dead skin cells, brighten my skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth! I really enjoy using this as my regular facial scrub!
Have you tried anything from JOIK yet?

The Last Few Months At A Glance

Hello! I haven't posted a life update since January and quite a lot has happened in the last few months, so I thought it was about time you got caught up with me!
Firstly, I just want to say that although I barely manage one blog post a week at the moment, I am still passionate about my blog and am doing my best to update it when possible - life is just so busy at the moment!

Let's go back to the very end of February, when I made the spontaneous decision to join an online dating site - the only intention I had was to just "have a look" and I thought, "Why not?!". I was surprised to get a few messages from local people in my area, and chatted to a few of them to see if we had any common interests e.t.c.
One person in particular stood out to me; we clicked immediately and we were chatting away so easily and openly. We felt there was a mutual connection, so we arranged to go on a date together! I was so nervous, but also really excited. Considering my situation at the time, it felt quite surreal! We met on the first Tuesday in March at a local park to go for a walk and then headed off to a local Indian restaurant for a meal. We had been chatting pretty much 24/7 for about a week before we met up, so this made the face-to-face meeting a little less daunting! When I met Ian, there was an instant spark and he was so easy to talk to. We laughed a lot during our walk - we couldn't have picked a muddier day! We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Indian, although I couldn't eat much due to my nerves, and being a perfect gentleman, Ian paid for us both. The evening ended in a kiss (ok, a few!) and we made plans to meet up again at the weekend. Neither of us wanted to part and say goodbye! Somehow, in amongst us both working during the week, we met up several times before the weekend! We enjoyed more dates and spent a lot of time together in a short space of time. He even planned a surprise getaway to Inverness, where we enjoyed a couple of days together; we stayed at a lovely little B&B, ate a delicious meal at an Italian restaurant, enjoyed a cocktail at a local bar, spent hours browsing the shops and ended the trip with a visit to Nairn beach on the way back!
Fast forward three months and Wilson and I are currently living with Ian at his little coastal cottage, while my own place is being renovated. We are completely and utterly in love with each other, we are so comfortable in each other's company and everything is just so effortless! It feels amazing and I can honestly say that this is the happiest I have ever felt in my entire life. We usually only get to see each other for a few hours each weekday, so every moment is precious and cherished. We have a trip to London planned next week to celebrate Ian's sister's 30th birthday, so we are really looking forward to that! We also have a dog-friendly holiday in Fife planned in September, so that's another trip to look forward to! When my cottage is all ready - hopefully by October, Ian, Wilson and I will be moving in together there! We are really excited and it's been great making plans together on how the cottage will look once it's finished.

So, I guess you could say that life is pretty damn awesome! I still can't believe how lucky we were to find each other, and although we've only been together for 14 weeks, it feels like we've known each other for years!

I hope all of my readers are enjoying happiness in their lives too, because we all truly deserve it!
Love,
Emma xxx

Alma Briosa Coffee 'n Tea Rosso Moisturiser

Alma Briosa Coffee 'n Tea Rosso Moisturiser*, £14.52/150ml

I've recently been enjoying using this Italian multi-purpose moisturiser as my daily face cream. This vegan-friendly product is housed in a practical and user-friendly airless pump bottle, allowing you control of how much is dispensed. Only a small amount is needed per application - a little goes a long way! The formula is a silky, smooth cream which glides onto skin, giving an even application. It has a pleasant, subtle citrus scent which I really like. The key ingredients in this moisturiser are red tea extract, red coffee extract, cocoa butter, watermelon seed oil and rosehip oil.
This moisturiser is deeply hydrating, great for my sensitive skin and leaves me with soft, smooth skin. It helps reduce and soothe redness and blemishes, while being a good base for make-up, leaving no dry patches anywhere. I have also enjoyed using this as a body and hand moisturiser - it works well all over the skin!

Unfortunately I cannot find a source to purchase Alma Briosa products from; I think they may be sold via individual distributors.

The May beauty box contained a total product value of £45, including three full-size products!

Included in the box was:
OGARIO London Styling Mist, £16/60ml
I tend to keep my haircare products pretty simple and don't really bother with styling products; mainly because I wouldn't know how to use them correctly! This hair mist promises to boost volume and keep your hair under control, while targeting damaged hair and sealing split ends.
John Masters Organics Rosemary Shampoo, £5.50/60ml
Looking forward to trying this organic travel-size shampoo, suitable for all hair types.
John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler, £5.50/60ml

Botanicals Lavender & Tea Tree Organic Sanitiser

Botanicals Lavender & Tea Tree Sanitiser*, £5.95/50ml or £9/100ml

My usual hand sanitiser of choice is Dr. Bronner's lavender version, but I recently had the opportunity to try a new option available on the organic beauty market; British brand, Botanicals, have released their own hand & foot sanitiser, which is certified organic and contains ingredients such as lavender flower oil and tea tree leaf oil, creating a lovely scent.
This organic sanitiser comes in two sizes, the smaller of the two being a perfect size for keeping in your handbag. The spray mist pump is practical and user-friendly, while the formula is refreshing, cleansing and quick-drying. This will also be great to refresh and cool down feet during the hotter summer days!

Natural sanitisers are far and few between - especially organic ones - and I love both of the two I've mentioned in this post. What's your favourite?

Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy

Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy*, £24/100ml

This hair oil is crafted from a beautiful blend of five natural oils; grapefruit essential oil is a natural hair cleanser and gives this product an amazingly refreshing, fruity scent; castor oil helps to prevent hair loss and thicken hair; virgin avocado oil locks in moisture and acts as a natural SPF; coconut oil disinfects and de-frizzes hair, while sweet almond oil brings shine, moisture and protection from heat styling.
I absolutely adore the citrus scent of this hair oil! The oil itself is just the perfect all-in-one treatment for your hair; it does everything from reducing dandruff, adding shine and strengthening damaged hair. My hair felt so much softer after use and the smell lingered for ages! I also noticed a lot more shine and reduced frizz. The only thing I feel this product could benefit from is a dropper for an easier application. Have you tried this yet?

Ingredients:
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Persea Gratissima (Virgin, Organic Avocado Oil), Ricinus Communis Seed Oil (Organic Castor Oil), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Organic Sweet Almond Oil), Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil (Organic White Grapefruit Essential Oil).

This organic body oil is the perfect accompaniment to a massage, allowing for a more comfortable massage that also benefits your skin with lovely, natural ingredients. After a massage with this oil, you will feel relaxed, yet surprisingly rejuvenated and calmer. TurBliss Bioactive Peat Toner

TurBliss Bioactive Peat Toner*, £16/100ml

I've been using this toner for quite some time now, so I thought I'd let you know my thoughts! TurBliss are a Nordic company who use peat as their star ingredient. Their products have a high level of humic, fulvic and hymatomelanic acids that penetrate deep down into your skin, helping skin to appear younger-looking and healthier. Peat also contains minerals, lipids, amino acids, enzymes, microelements, phytonutrients and sulphur, all of which are beneficial to our skin.
This toner comes in a glass spray bottle, which is really handy and user-friendly. The toner doesn't seem to have any particular scent, which is fine. Misting this over my sensitive skin, it feels very refreshing and hydrating. It's also good as a setting spray for make-up. I find this toner helps to cleanse my skin, reduce redness and inflammation, while brightening my complexion and keeping my skin hydrated and feeling softer.

Ingredients:
Peat water.

The March beauty box contained a total product value of £40!

Included in the box was:
Seascape Island Apothecary Unwind Body Wash, £16/300ml
Firstly, the packaging from this brand is really lovely and I love the coastal theme. This large bottle should last quite a while, plus it lathers well and the scent is pleasant, with lavender and ylang ylang. However, the ingredients aren't as clean as I'd hope for.
I love this hand cream and even better, it comes in a practical pump bottle, which is also perfectly sized for travel. The scent is lovely and the formula is light and moisturising.

This golden oil is lightweight and fast-absorbing, leaving no greasy residue behind. I found it a good base for applying make-up and the effects were long-lasting. This oil also has a lovely scent!

My February At A Glance...

In A Nutshell:
February really whizzed by for me. I spent my first Valentine's Day, in over a decade, as a singleton and focused on self-love, self-care and self-indulgence. Being single is gradually getting easier. I enjoyed using nugg's face masks and I enjoyed eating a Terry's chocolate orange (even if Wilson did manage to gobble up my last few segments when I wasn't looking! Luckily, there were no ill effects, except from me feeling rather disappointed that my chocolate orange had been rudely stolen from me.).

I didn't manage to fit in a January catch-up post, so now I can fill you in on some exciting developments, if you didn't catch it on Instagram; I'm buying a house! Yep, I really am. I went to view a little cottage during one week and fell in love with it. The same weekend, I got my Dad to check it out with me, to give it the thumbs-up, as it does need a little work.
For quite some time, it has been used as a holiday home, but has not been lived in or used properly for a few years. Despite this, it's in pretty good condition, with just a few repairs required and some gradual updating and renovation, when finances allow. I'm due to collect the keys during the first week in April and I cannot wait to get started! Once I give it some TLC and breathe some new life in to it, it'll be the perfect little home for Wilson and I. I'll tell you more about it all when I have the keys in my hand!
Wilson is growing so quickly - he's already passed the six month mark! How did that happen? I hope we can celebrate his first birthday (10th August) in our new home. He is turning out to be a very loving, loyal, handsome, clever and playful boy.
We've been exploring our new local area more for walks, which has been fun. The weather is slowly turning milder, although I'm loving lighting a fire in the stove every evening! I'll be installing one of these in my cottage to replace the coal fire which is currently in situ, so it's all good practice for me.
I've been struggling to meet my personal goals regarding healthier eating, self-care and regular blogging, but I'm working hard to achieve this in the near future.

Films Watched:
Notting Hill -  This rom-com is based in London, where bookshop owner, Will, has a chance encounter with a Hollywood actress, Anna Scott. Romance flourishes between them, but it doesn't end well, until they meet again, several months later. This was a heart-warming film to watch and who can resist a young Hugh Grant?! ☆☆★★★
Four Weddings and a Funeral - Hugh Grant strikes again... Another British rom-com, where serial wedding guest, Charles, ends up falling for someone who is already taken. He's fed of being a wedding guest and wants marriage for himself. Will he make do with an old flame or find a way to be with who he truly loves? A fun film to watch! ☆☆★★★

Books Read:
Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris - Jack and Grace are seemingly the perfect couple, but what really goes on behind closed doors? I really loved this gripping psychological thriller! It's the kind of book that you just want to keep reading, to find out how it all ends. ★★★
The Sister by Louise Jensen - Grace is grieving after the death of her best friend, Charlie. "I did something terrible, Grace. I hope you can forgive me." were Charlie's last words and now Grace is making it her mission to find out exactly what Charlie did. This was a good read, but not as exciting as I'd hoped it would be. I liked the strong characters in the story. ★★★
The Little Shop of Happy Ever After by Jenny Colgan - This story follows Nina on her journey from librarian in Birmingham to book bus owner in The Highlands; I knew I'd enjoy this book, being set in Scotland. Nina sets out on her own and even gets caught up in some romance, which gets rather complicated. I'd give the book itself four stars, but the fifth star is just for how it made me feel, plus it encouraged me to just get on with life and try to pursue some romance! ★★★

How was your February?
Love,
Emma xxx

I managed to snap up this mint green faux leather biker-style jacket on eBay recently and I'm really pleased with it! I love the colour and I'd been looking for a jacket in this style for years.
Aren't these just adorable? I purchased these with my new home in mind; I think they'd look great filled with sweet treats on a dresser or kitchen shelf.
Naturtint Permanent Hair Colour, £10.49
I've never tried a natural hair colourant before and it's been a few of years since I had my hair coloured at all, so I'm really excited to try this and fingers crossed it's a success!
Dr. Bronner's Lavender Hand Sanitizer, £4.49/59ml
This is my go-to hand sanitiser and I use it at work and while out and about. I love the classic lavender scent.
Lavera Gloss & Bounce Conditioner, £5.95/200ml
I love the pretty, pink packaging of this hair conditioner! With organic ingredients such as mallow flower extract, avocado oil and hydrolysed pearl, this promises to provide incredible gloss and bounce to dull hair. I can't wait to try this!
Lavera SOS Help Hand Balm, £5.95/50ml
This new release from Lavera is a gorgeous-smelling hand cream/balm to protect hands from the harsh elements and restore moisture. I'm really enjoying using this and am keeping close by in my handbag.

What have you been buying lately?
Love,
Emma xxx
