My Weekend In Pictures

Friday:
I got home just after 7:30am, after finishing my last night duty. I had a quick breakfast and made myself a herbal tea - I woke up with a nasty cold on Wednesday afternoon and am trying to clear it with anything I can think of! I smothered my hands in organic shea butter, applied cotton gloves and got into bed to read before falling asleep. I got up around 1:30am and did some tidying and laundry (it's the never-ending chore, isn't it?). My friend, Tracy, texted me to ask if she could pop over for an hour or so after work. I replied yes, but had to quickly get dressed and look marginally presentable! We had a quick catch up and planned some upcoming days out. I spent some time placing an order on So Organic, as they had 25% off the Skin Blossom range and I was running low on hand creams, so I bought two tubes of their caring hand cream and a couple of other items I've not tried before. I felt so crap that I had no energy or motivation to make anything for dinner, so we decided to be naughty and get a small order from the local chip shop; I just had a large portion of cheesy chips and some onion rings. Aah, comfort food - nothing better when you're feeling unwell! We watched some Red Dwarf episodes while we ate, then some Supernatural.

Saturday:
My cold symptoms had me up just before 7am on Saturday, much to my dismay. I had breakfast and watched a few episodes of Coronation Street. After my shower, I started a bit of a spring clean! I had an early lunch, watched more Corrie, then did some more housework. I baked a pineapple upside down cake and made vegetarian spaghetti bolognese for dinner with Dean's parents. We watched the third Night At The Museum film with them and had a raspberry roulade for dessert. I gave them half my cake to take home with them.
I was a little late to the party in knowing about Earth Hour, but not too late - we switched all the lights out for over an hour, from 8:30pm, and lit a few candles. It's a shame the streetlights weren't switched off for this. Did you take part?
We went to bed early to take advantage of a free £5 movie voucher for Sainsbury's Entertainment and watched The Martian on the laptop. We really enjoyed the film, but I definitely wouldn't recommend the service; it's definitely over-priced, considering Netflix costs about £6.99 for a whole month, with unlimited useage, and the video player had no apparent option to close the timeline/play bar at the bottom of the screen, which I always find distracting, plus it cut off a small section of the film!
I discovered this terribly enjoyable video before I went to sleep - if you ever need a good laugh, watch this video. It's equal parts adorable and hilarious - it makes me cry with laughter! I think I may watch it daily, to boost my mood!

Sunday:
I couldn't wait to drink my morning coffee - hot drinks are so satisfying and soothing when you have a sore throat. I also had a peppermint tea, along with vanilla yoghurt and granola with cacao nibs for breakfast. I watched some TV while I ate. I had a quick shower and, as it was the first day of spring, I decided to be brave and wear flats and a denim shirt as outerwear. Basically, this was instantly regretted! I could barely feel my toes as we drove to Yeovil.
We popped into TK Maxx and then did a food shop in Lidl and Tesco. I really need to up my game in the healthy eating department, so we picked up lots of fruit and veg and I also chose some veggie options from the frozen section to try. Oh, and I picked up some VioLife vegan cheese to try!
We did our own thing for a while, then had a snacky tea, but I didn't eat much. We watched Red Dwarf, then it was time to head off to the cinema! We went with some friends to see The Boy and were all really impressed with it! A definite future DVD purchase for our horror collection. I watched the latest Ghost Adventures episode in bed.

What did you get up to at the weekend?

  1. Oooh your pineapple upside down cake looks delicious! Glad to hear you watched The Martian, it’s a great film. Sorry to hear about your disappointment with Sainsbury’s entertainment, I know a lot of people have Netflix but I have so many DVDs now, I tend to just reach for those. Lol, that pig dancing video is classic!! The Boy looks like a good film, quite chilling from the trailer, and glad you enjoyed it! At the weekend my family and I went to the beach, luckily it wasn’t too cold and I got some good snaps. Lovely post and photos! :-) xx

    1. Thank you, Helen - the cake didn't last long! It's so easy to put together and a lovely treat. I cannot get enough of that video, haha! The Boy is really creepy and so well done. The horror genre seems to be improving in recent years! I hope you had a lovely day at the beach - I love being by the seaside. xxx
