Recent Empties #4

Lily Lolo Mineral SPF 15 Foundation in China Doll, £13.99/10g
This foundation gives a smooth, even finish and enhances your skin. With a natural look and a matte finish, I couldn't be without this everyday foundation!
Re-purchase? Yes - already have!
The Konjac Sponge Co. French Green Clay Facial Puff Sponge, £7.99
Aimed at oily/combination skin, I didn't find this sponge to make much difference to my skin. It kept it clean and was pleasant to use, but it's not the one for me.
Re-purchase? No - not this variety.
Earth Conscious Citrus Deodorant Balm, £4.99/60g
This was my staple natural deodorant, but I found something even better (see below). This performs very well and I would recommend trying it as it is a great budget price.
Re-purchase? No.
The Natural Deodorant Co. Vanilla Manuka Deodorant Balm (sample), £1.50/6g
This luxurious deodorant has a silky-smooth texture, melts on contact with skin and has a sweet, pleasant scent. It performs very well and I love it!
Re-purchase? Yes - already bought the full size.
Weleda Baby & Child Calendula Nappy Change Cream (sample), £6.95/75ml
Along with a few Naturisimo orders, I received a few of these sample sachets. Totally unexpected and not something I'd have purposely tried myself. But, this cream is brilliant for irritated, sore skin. If you suffer from any skin conditions such as contact dermatitis or psoriasis, you need this in your stash.
Re-purchase? Yes - a full size tube is on its way!
7th Heaven Coffee Mocha Mud Masque, £1
The scent was not as expected and not very coffee-like. It was pleasantly cooling upon application and had a thick mud texture with more than enough product. It exfoliated well and cleansed my skin.
Re-purchase? No.
7th Heaven Banana & Honey Masque, £1 (not pictured)
This gave my skin a good cleanse and left it feeling softer, with no irritation. It had a strong but quite artificial scent of banana, which I didn't like much.
Re-purchase? No.

Have you tried any of these?

My Week In Pictures

Monday was Dean's last day of his holiday. We had a chilled out day; I did some housework and stayed cosy indoors. I made a random smoothie with organic raspberry yoghurt, coconut milk, banana, cacao nibs*, a dash of maple syrup and a serving of aguaje superfruit powder*, which actually turned out quite nicely. In the afternoon, I had a lovely organic peppermint tea and caught up with Corrie. We treated ourselves to an Indian take-away in the evening; I went for a vegetable korma and a peshwari naan - there are no photos of this, as it was devoured upon arrival! We also had some Chocolat Luxe Bailey's, which was nice, but I find Bailey's rather strong, so I only had a little. I had some Kelly's salted caramel ice-cream for afters! I cannot remember what film we watched. As Dean had to get up early for work, and I was feeling rather tired, we headed off to bed earlier than usual.

I had a slow start to the day on Tuesday. I watched Corrie with breakfast. Dean was back to work, so I was home alone. I caught up on housework chores and did some blogging. When Dean got home, we had an afternoon treat of cherry scones with wild blueberry conserve and clotted cream! I made homemade burritos with Quorn mince for dinner. We watched the latest episodes of The Walking Dead and Modern Family. I stayed up late watching Ghost Adventures!

On Wednesday, after feeling a little unwell in the early hours, I endeavoured to try and kick-start my healthy eating/living. I used my Madara mud mask in the morning, and although my face went bright red at first, it faded within an hour and the end results were rather pleasing. I caught up with some laundry, then caught up on watching Eastenders. It was a sunny, bright day which made me smile, despite another declined job application. I finished reading my book by candlelight in the late afternoon. I really enjoyed this book and have ordered some of the other books in the collection! I had a light dinner of pesto pasta with a side salad, which went down nicely. I watched some Ghost Adventures before getting ready and heading off for work around 11:35pm. The work night wasn't too bad.

When I got home from work, I had a quick breakfast and got into my warm, inviting bed. I had to get up around 3pm, have a quick shower and then we headed off to the cinema with a friend to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two, which we enjoyed. I had some popcorn at the cinema, as I was really hungry! Again, I had pesto pasta and salad for my dinner, then we watched the latest You, Me and the Apocalypse episode, then I went to bed for an hour or so before heading off to work again. It was a busy night and I was thankful it was the last one.

Yay, another week off! I know, I am very lucky to get so much time off. Although, I'd happily give it all up for a happier job. I had yoghurt and cereal with fresh blueberries and a Pukka detox tea for breakfast when I got home, then climbed into bed with the electric blanket on, watched one episode of Ghost Adventures and promptly fell asleep. I forced myself to get up at 2:30pm and lazily sat on the sofa, caught up with reading some blogs and took some blog photos before the daylight disappeared.
Dean wasn't home long before heading out again to go to Poole with a friend to grab something in the Black Friday sales. He surprised me by bringing home a coffee machine, too! I made spaghetti bolognese for Dean's dinner, while I had pesto pasta again, with garlic bread. I also had a cheeky toffee cider! We watched some Peep Show and of course tried out our new coffee machine! I spent some time browsing and blogging and then went to bed and watched some Ghost Adventures.

Should I have just called this a food diary?! What have you been up to this week?

My Week In Pictures

On Monday, I had a lie in till 10:30am. I had chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast, although due to ASDA's poor packaging, they were all stuck together! After I'd showered and got myself ready, we went out for a midday countryside walk along the trailway for some fresh air. It also gave me the opportunity to try out my new camera. It was lovely seeing two calves feeding from their mother. It was also lovely to capture these vibrant, pink wildflowers growing amongst the bare trees and fallen leaves.
After admiring my blooming carnations, we had a late lunch, which was an experiment by my husband - oven-baked cheesy eggs on toast. Not bad, not bad. In the late afternoon, I had some red velvet coffee with Riverford's almond cantuccini* and a marzipan stollen bite... or two. I got some blogging done, plus I finally cleared my BlogLovin' feed! I read lots of blog posts and left many comments. We had an easy dinner of pizza. We watched the latest South Park episode and the latest Modern Family episode, then I got cosy in bed with the electric blanket on and watched one episode of Ghost Adventures. I then picked up the book I'd been (slowly) reading recently, then put it back down when I spotted the new book I'd purchased last week. I read it until 2am! I'm really hooked and eager to keep reading! I've decided that life is too short to read books that I'm not fully enjoying!

I was up at 9:30am on Tuesday. After a quick breakfast and shower, I waited for Dean to get ready before we headed out into the wind and rain to drive to Yeovil for the day. We popped into a few shops, bought ourselves a printer, treated ourselves to a hot drink from Starbucks and lunched at Frankie & Benny's, then headed home. I had to face a stack of dirty dishes when we got back - one of my least favourite chores! I then got comfy on the sofa, catching up on some blogging, listening to the howling wind. Green & Black's kept me happy! After drafting some blog posts, I watched a Ghost Adventures episode while Dean played on the XBOX 360 and then we watched the latest The Walking Dead episode together - we love this show! I read my new book for a while before going to sleep.

I woke around 9:30am, but stayed in bed reading for a while! I had no motivation to shower, so I had cereal, a glass of water and a fruity green tea, while doing some blogging. Dean randomly decided to do some painting of the hall and spare room, finishing up the leftover paint from when my Dad did some last month. While Dean did that, I managed to get all of the Christmas gifts I'd bought wrapped. In the evening we watched Thinner (a Stephen King story), then I read in bed for a while.

On Thursday, I didn't get up till about 10:30am! I set up up my grateful giveaway and had a long shower. I did some housework and blogging and got picked up at 4:40pm by a friend and we went off to the cinema to watch Suffragette! We both really enjoyed the film. I got home after 8pm and as Dean had a friend round, watching a film, I took myself off to the bedroom, put the electric blanket on and settled down to watch some Ghost Adventures!

I got up at 8am, had a quick breakfast and shower and got myself ready. We left for Street, Somerset at around 9:45am and made our way to Clarks Shopping Village. It was looking nice and festive and we picked up a few bits - not much, really, as most things are still pretty expensive! We had a light lunch in Subway and got a nice hot drink from The Cornish Bakery - I opted for a mint hot chocolate, while Dean went for a butterscotch steamer. We left around 2:45pm and headed home. It rained a lot on the way back, but we saw a double rainbow! When we got home, I'd had a parcel delivery of Christmas gifts from M&S, so I wrapped all the gifts immediately. I sat down to do some blogging before preparing dinner. After dinner, I decided I needed a long, hot bath and took the opportunity to read some more of my book. We watched The Drop and then went to bed.

The Weekly Wish List

1. Lulu & Boo Chocolate Orange Cleansing Oil, £27/100ml
A couple of bloggers I follow have raved about this newly-released product and as I'm a chocoholic, it kind of had to go on my wish list this week, right?!
2. Montezuma's Peppermint Hot Chocolate, £6.99/300g
I've been enjoying the orange & ginger variety of this hot chocolate and now eagerly want to try the rest - namely the peppermint!
3. BWC Mineral Eyeshadow in Vanity, £8.99/1.5g
I cannot remember the last time I purchased eyeshadow. That probably means that my current stash is out of date... I'm currently eyeing up this pretty, loose mineral powder in neutral shade "vanity".
4. Chocolate Sun Cocoa Lite/Enhancer Sunless Tanning Cream, £26/8oz
I've literally had one spray tan in my lifetime. I really loved the effect, yet felt (and still do) it was an unnecessary luxury. I don't mind being pale, but it would be nice to have an easy-to-use, natural, at-home option. Cocoa Lite is organic and has a pretty awesome ingredients list, plus it promises to give a healthy, streak-free glow.
5. H&M Porcelain Mug, £6.99
Isn't this gold, spotted mug pretty?! I have a thing for metallics around this time of year...

5 Natural Beauty Products Under £5

Earth Conscious Citrus Natural Organic Deodorant Balm, £4.99/60g
I have used both the citrus and mint versions of this deodorant balm and both have performed extremely well for me. This is a great place to start when switching to natural deodorants. I'd like the scents to be a little stronger and the formula to be a little smoother, but otherwise, it's a great budget buy!
Badger Sleep Balm, £4.99/21g
With lavender and bergamot, this multi-use balm, encased in a practical tin, will soothe you to sleep when massaged into temples and soothe dry, chapped skin and lips.
Lavera Pampering Rose Hand Cream, £4.45/50ml
With organic, wild rose, this has a delicate, floral rose scent and a light formula. It absorbs quickly into the skin, so it's particularly useful while out and about. I keep this in my handbag to use when my hands need a quick top-up of moisture. This is not a deeply hydrating or heavy hand cream, so I don't use it as an overnight option.
Hurraw! Coconut Lip Balm, £3.99/4.3g
This lip balm has a lovely coconut scent and a really creamy, nourishing formula which leaves a lovely sheen on your lips. This is vegan-friendly, too.
Dr. Bronner's Lavender Hand Sanitizer, £2.99/59ml
This has a lovely. strong lavender scent and is very handy to have around when there are no hand-washing facilities available. I keep a bottle in my handbag at all times. It's refreshing and doesn't dry out my skin.
