Creating A Capsule Wardrobe: Daywear (SS15 Edition)

The other day, I showed you how to create a capsule workwear wardrobe. Today, we are looking at creating a casual, capsule daywear wardrobe fit for the spring and summer months.
Capsule Daywear
First, you'll need a few tops; stripes are a timeless classic, and this Oasis Stripe Tie Front T-Shirt, £28, while quite simplistic, features little touches to set it apart from the rest. I've chosen blue stripes here, because it ties in nicely with a spring colour palette, plus black stripes can be a little harsh and tend to be best kept for eveningwear. You'll also want a sleeveless option, such as this ZARA Embroidered Linen Top, £25.99; with delicate embroidery detail, this crisp, white top will be great on warmer days, or for layering underneath a jacket or cardigan. For cooler days, this Next Bardot Sweater, £15, will do just the trick; it's simple yet chic. Try layering a couple of long necklaces to personalise your look.

You'll want a skirt which will work with all of the tops, so I've chosen the New Look Waffle Textured Balloon Midi Skater Skirt, £19.99, but you may prefer to choose an alternative colour - pastels work well in spring. I've selected only one pair of jeans, but if you wear them more often than skirts or shorts, you may find it beneficial to grab another pair in a different colour. These River Island Ripped Amelie Superskinny Jeans, £42, are just the right shade of off-white, which I much prefer as they give a softer, less harsh look than bright white jeans. A classic pair of denim shorts are a must for spring/summer, and I like the distressed look, so these ZARA Denim Shorts, £25.99, tick all the right boxes.

A comfy yet super stylish item everyone should have in their wardrobe, is a jumpsuit. I am totally in love with this Forever 21 Drawstring Cami Jumpsuit, £22; it looks so effortless and could be worn with or without accessories, as it speaks for itself. You'll also need a light jacket or blazer for cooler days, or just to smarten up and pull your look together; this River Island Long Sleeve Fitted Tailored Blazer, £55, will do just that, plus it's a neutral colour which will work with the rest of your outfit. Wear a pretty scarf like this New Look Floral Print Snood, £7.99, to add colour and layers to your outfit.

For your daytime footwear, you'll want to try and focus on comfort and practicality, but that doesn't mean you need to scrimp on style! These F&F @ Tesco Striped Peep Toe Two Part Pumps, £12, will look great for a really casual look, and when you want to up the style factor, try wearing these gorgeous Next Leather Ankle Strap Wedges, £45.
You'll often find you don't want to be lugging around a big handbag during day trips e.t.c., so opt for a cross-body style like this Marc B Half Moon Across Body Bag with Tassel Detail, £35, in sorbet pink, that you can keep your essentials in. Remember to finish off your looks with simple jewellery like this necklace and these earrings.
